University of Washington Athletic Fields
The University of Washington Athletics complex is located along the shores of Lake Washington, often referred to as Montlake. Three baseball fields were improved across three years with the practice field being first, followed by Alaska Airlines Husky stadium and then the university baseball facility. Project scope included demolition and removal of existing field surfaces, installation of a new pad systems, exterior storm drainage structure upgrades, new communications upgrade installed below grade, regrading of the permeable aggregate base and finally the installation of the new infill synthetic turf.
All three projects were delivered as a design/build arrangement – allowing the turf installer to work hand in hand with the designer and site work contractor. This method reduced the construction window and project costs, while maintaining required tolerances and safety factors required for a NCAA D1 competitive game facilities.

Western Washington University Softball Complex
Western Washington University softball complex was a design build renovation with the WWU Foundation and the University Athletic Department. The project was completed as an alternative method of delivery for construction. The design and construction was coordinated though the Foundation, and once completed, the site was gifted back to the University. Through this process, the University was allowed to utilize in-kind labor and donations, as opposed to a standard publicly financed project. By including donated materials and labor, this delivery method saved the project over $350,000.
Design elements include completely renovated backstops, covered sunken dugouts, bullpens, fencing, field drainage, synthetic turf outfield and bullpens and natural clay infield. All new fencing, and electrical infrastructure for future field lighting and a new scoreboard were also included.
