Near West Yellowstone, Montana, the Denny Creek Campground project is the first commercial campground facility to gain approval from Gallatin County in over 60 years. Prior to development as a campground, the site displayed severe ecological damage from decades of overgrazing along watershed boundaries.
Sensitivity to re-establishment of the site was a primary reason the project was granted by the county commission. The site improvement plan specifies native floodplain and mesic plantings for rehabilitation of the flood plain and riparian habitat once associated with Denny Creek.
